Blackpoint Cyber launched Blackpoint RISK – a cyber liability insurance solution created specifically for its partners and their customers. Blackpoint RISK is available to existing and new clients and provides an additional layer of protection against cyber incidents, including cyber-crime, ransomware, and malicious attacks.

A common phrase in cyber security is, “It’s not a question of if, but when.” Cyber security programs traditionally focus on awareness, prevention, and response – but many are unprepared for an unexpected cyber incident and the financial implications.

Blackpoint Cyber used its foundation in cyber operations for the US Government to build its true 24/7 Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service for MSPs and their customers.

While Blackpoint prides itself on its quick detection and response times and its ability to streamline the security stack, they wanted to arm MSPs and their customers with the next line of defense.

Cyber liability insurance is becoming a required component of risk management for all business sizes and industries, particularly MSPs and their customers. A cyber incident can include forensic investigations, data…

WhiteHawk Limited (ASX: WHK) has been awarded a fiscal 2021 option extension of US$1.5 million (A$2.1M) under an existing seven-year contract.

The contract with a US Federal government Department was for a one-year contract with six option years.

WhiteHawk has been advised that the option for the next financial year has now been exercised, which is worth US$1.5 million to the company over the 2021 financial year – a significant increase on the US$400,000 in revenue awarded to the company under the contract for the 2020 financial year.

The company sees this as validation of its cybersecurity technology and value to the US government in combating cyber threats.

WhiteHawk is the first global online cybersecurity exchange enabling small-to-medium businesses to take smart action against cybercrime, fraud and disruption,

The focus of this contract for WhiteHawk has evolved from cyber risk technical and management services, scoped at US$400,000 to US$750,000 per year, to now lead developer of a comprehensive online Cyber Security Marketplace, with an automated cyber risk review and solution option mapping, for a breadth of US Federal Government entities.

The company’s…

CyberScoop reports that German intelligence services have circulated an advisory warning that the Russian government threat group Berserk Bear is actively working against German industrial operations in the energy and water sectors. Berserk Bear was last mentioned in dispatches during 2018, when the US Government warned that Russian actors had been engaged in some preliminary reconnaissance of US infrastructure. Tageschau identifies the German intelligence services as the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), and the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). The warning doesn’t directly name the Russian government, but it prominently links, as evidence, to US documents that do just that, so the intended attribution isn’t seriously in question.

Two Android issues have surfaced. F-Secure warns that default configurations specific to regions also create region-specific security problems for “flagship Android devices.” It’s easy to assume that handsets with the same branding will be roughly interchangeable with respect to security, but that assumption, F-Secure says, is unwarranted: “customization done by third…
