The sweeping global impact of COVID-19 has created what many believe is the greatest disruption for internal audit in the history of the profession, as the pandemic heightened risks in virtually every facet of enterprise operations. AuditBoard, the cloud-based risk management software provider, has released its 2022 Focus on the Future Survey, which reveals what areas audit professionals are most concerned about as the calendar nears the end of 2021.
Some of the key findings include:
- 90 percent of internal audit leaders ranked cyber security/data protection as the greatest vulnerability for organizations.
- 55 percent of respondents expect staff and budget increases over the next 12 to 24 months, while only a few anticipate declines.
- 51 percent of internal audit leaders hired remote workers, while 26 percent saw their workers “poached” by other organizations.
