Malteser International (MI) is the international humanitarian relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. For over 60 years we provide relief and recovery for people during and following conflicts and disasters around the world. Christian values and humanitarian principles form the foundations of our work. In over 30 countries in Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, we support people in need – regardless of their religion, origin or political convictions.
Malteser International (MI) has been working in Afghanistan since 2002 – till end of 2007 with own office structures and staff. Since 2008. MI is working in Afghanistan only through local partner organizations. Currently, MI supports one local partner to run two health facilities in Kabul province as well as six health centers in Balkh Province. MI considers establishing an own office structure in Kabul or Mazar-eSharif to support our partner organization and to assess new project options and partners for people in need in Afghanistan.
