HR Magazine – JLR workers told to stay at home after cyber attack

Employees of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) have been told to stay home again today (10 September) as production remains suspended following a cyber attack that has disrupted operations for more than a week, Sky News reported on 9 September.

The company, owned by India’s Tata Motors, shut down its IT systems on 31 August to protect the business from damage, causing significant disruption to operations.

Leaders of JLR, which normally builds about 1,000 cars a day, has not commented on reports that the disruption could last for several weeks.

The production halt has reportedly also affected suppliers, some of which instructed their staff to stay at home, following JLR’s request last week for its own workers to remain off-site amid the fallout from the attack.

HR plays an important role in managing the human side of a cyber incident, explained Marc Rivero, lead security researcher on the Global Research and Analysis Team (GreAT) at global cybersecurity company Kaspersky.
