IGR should be monitored by internal auditors

The Auditor General of the Federation  (AuGF), Mr. Anthony Mkpe Ayine, has called for the monitoring of all internally generated revenues (IGR) in the country as a way of fighting corruption.

This is as he called on internal auditors of Nigerian universities to adopt effective mechanism to prevent, detect and mitigate corruption in the country’s tertiary institutions.

The AuGF stated this yesterday in Malete while presenting a lead paper at the opening ceremony of the National Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Committee of Heads of Internal Audit Departments/Units in Nigerian Universities (CHIADINU) held at Kwara State University Mini Campus, Ilorin West.

Speaking on the theme of the conference ‘Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria: The Role of Internal Auditors’, the forensic expert noted that the best way to fight corruption is to prevent it through internal audits.

“There should be no public expenditure without pre-audits  and that is why there is the need for all Internally Generated Revenues in the country to be monitored by internal auditors.
