Government has directed the 600 teachers who have shunned work in Luapula Province to immediately report back to their respective schools or face disciplinary charges.
Public Service Management Division Permanent Secretary Boniface Chimbwali says the move is unacceptable and detrimental to the efforts government is making in improving the education sector.
Mr. Chimbwali says the teachers are reported to have shunned their schools shortly after filing in their arrival advice forms.
The development came to light during the 12th sitting of the newly formed Internal Audit Oversight Committee at Cabinet office.
And Civil Service Commission Chairperson Dickson Chasaya said the formation of the Internal Audit Oversight Committee at Cabinet Office is aimed at assisting government in resolving all audit queries to forestall the appearance at Parliamentary Audit Commitee by Ministries, Provinces and other Spending Agencies.
Mr. Chasaya said some irregularities highlighted in the auditor General’s report can be avoided way before the sitting of the Parliamentary Audit Committee
