LIVINGSTON — With an eye toward offering staff raises, the Livingston Parish School Board voted Thursday night to hire an independent auditor to look for cost-savings in the system’s budget.
The proposal drew cheers inside the school board chambers, which was packed with employees, including school bus drivers seeking a raise or a bonus 13th check each year.
The school’s current auditor, Hannis T. Bourgeois, LLC, will do a 60- to 90-day review of the school district’s departments to look for ways to save money.
