Local business owners protest at Templemore Garda Training College over new supply rules

A group of local business people have placed a picket on the entrance to the Garda College in a dispute over new rules on supply.

Procurement for the college, which is located in the Tipperary town of Templemore, has decided to outsource much of the food and other items originally supplied by locals.

On Monday local Fianna Fail Councillor John Hogan took part in the protest.

He said: “Everything for the college was supplied by people from the surrounding area – Thurles or Templemore.

“It is an industry that has kept a lot of small jobs in a rural area. These people were competitive and this was well monitored.
