Denton’s new internal auditor, Umesh Dalal, has kept a low profile since the City Council hired him earlier this year. But he spent a few minutes with council members Tuesday afternoon to explain his activities since coming to work Feb. 26.
Dalal told the council during Tuesday’s work session that his first task was a comprehensive risk assessment of the organization — the Denton city government and its utility departments are a $1 billion annual operation. That assessment yielded about 200 units at City Hall that should be audited at some point, he said.
He gave council members a list of all those units along with a vulnerability score.
