UPDATE: IN the wake of Saturday night’s ugly alternation between Test flanker Lukhan Tui and a fan following the Wallabies’ devastating 23-19 loss to Argentina on the Gold Coast, Rugby Australia has confirmed it is reviewing its risk management policy.

And the spectator at the centre of the incident has escaped punishment after Tui did not want to pursue the matter.

An already grim night descended into anarchy in the moments after the match as an angry fan, who is alleged to have knocked over Tui’s younger sister to the ground, gave the 21-year-old forward and his teammates a verbal serving.

But very quickly the altercation turned physical and Tui needed to be pulled away from the middle-aged man by teammates and a Rugby Australia staffer.

The angry spectator was eventually led away by his throat by another individual before police arrived on the scene.

A distraught Tui later told teammates he is “not going to be playing anymore” following the altercation, according to Wallabies coach Michael Cheika.

The incident has forced Rugby Australia to immediately review their policy on how players interact with fans.
