THE National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC) held a mini carnival in conjunction with ASEAN Day on Disaster Management (ADDM) 2018 at the Student Centre of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday.
NDMC Director and Acting Director of Fire and Rescue Colonel (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Maiddin bin Pengiran Haji Said, the guest of honour, officiated the event.
Senior government officers, students and representatives of other stakeholder agencies from the government and private sectors were also present.
The ADDM is annually commemorated by ASEAN member countries on October 13 with different themes each year, with the celebration aiming to create public awareness on the importance of taking disaster risk reduction initiatives in everyday life.
The theme for this year’s event, ‘Strengthening Public Private Partnership’, places emphasis on the importance of collaboration between the government and related stakeholders, including the private sector, in managing and mitigating disaster risk.
