Energy giant Saudi Aramco has seen and increased number of cyber attacks since Q4 2019, although it has so far successfully defended against them.
In an interview with Reuters, Saudi Aramco’s chief information security officer Khalid Al-Harbi said that there is “definitely” an increase in the number of attacks.
“We are very successful in preventing these attacks at the earliest stage possible,” al-Harbi said. “The pattern of the attacks is cyclical, and we are seeing that the magnitude is increasing. I would suspect that this will continue to be a trend.
Al Harbi gave no indication as to the source of the attack. The company experienced its largest attack in August 2012, when a virus damaged around 30,000 computers.
