Senior executives understand that today’s global economy is still not adequately protected against cyberattacks, despite years of effort and multi-billions in spending each year. Until recently, many chief financial officers (CFOs) may not have been considered an essential part of an organization’s security team. And many may not have understood how to respond to security risks and the implications for their organizations.

Times have changed and many CFOs are now being called on to help promote cybersecurity and identify threats. Today, CFOs play a significant role in the daily running of an organization. For starters, they are responsible for loss-of-control over their financial reporting as well as the potential loss of funds, either through theft or as a direct result of a third-party’s misfortune.
