In a statement, Tassin said, “In the past few years, Fort Bend ISD has faced many challenges including compliance with special education laws, student achievement particularly in literacy, and teacher recruiting and retention. “Fort Bend ISD has especially seen a reduction in special education teachers and diagnosticians. The last Board audit of special education was completed when I served on the Board in 2018 and no follow up audit has been conducted. In fact, the internal audit function of the Board is currently almost non-existent.
“I am an experienced problem solver and I have specific experience in identifying underlying causes and implementing successful solutions to these types of challenges. I am committed to restoring the internal audit function in Fort Bend ISD, an important accountability tool for Trustees.”
