Decatur City Council members all agreed Wednesday that a $2.5 million line of credit should be paid off, but not all were happy about it.

The deadline for the city to either pay off or renew the $2.5 million loan plus accrued interest is Sunday. Councilman Chuck Ard said it was a matter that Chief Financial Officer John Andrzejewski should have addressed in a regular council meeting weeks ago, not a special called meeting days before the deadline.

Four council members voted to pay off the loan, but Ard abstained. He said his abstention was not because he disagreed with paying it off, but because he was frustrated that it was a last-minute decision.
