
Ulaanbaatar, August 7, 2025 /MONTSAME/. According to a nationwide general
assessment for drought risk, Uvurkhangai, Bayan-Ulgii, Umnugobi, Khovd, and
Dornogobi aimags were identified as high-risk for drought.
Out of the 330 soums nationwide, 25 soums are classified as extremely
high-risk, while 54 soums are considered high-risk. The National
Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring reports that pasture
vegetation growth is poor or below average in 38 percent of the national land and normal in the remaining 62 percent. Given this outlook, Deputy Director and Chief of Staff Colonel of
the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of Mongolia, Ts. Ganzorig instructed
the Operational Command Team to take early and comprehensive preparatory
