After Riverside utilities dispatcher got $257,000 in overtime, audit finds problems but no fraud – Press Enterprise

Riverside Public Utilities didn’t have internal controls to monitor overtime, but there was no evidence of fraud, in the year that a utilities dispatcher took home more than $257,000 in overtime pay or the four years before.

Those are among the main conclusions of an audit presented Tuesday afternoon, April 24, to the Riverside City Council.

The audit by Newport Beach-based Macias Gini & O’Connell looked for possible fraud or abuse related to overtime earnings by 10 utilities employees that may have occurred between Jan. 1, 2012, and Dec. 31, 2016. It also looked for any lack of internal controls related to authorization of that overtime, a letter the firm stated.
