The Aga Khan University (AKU) is proud to announce yet another significant achievement, this time by its Internal Audit Department (IAD). In a recent competition organized by the Institute of Internal Auditors – Kenya Chapter, aimed at recognizing outstanding Internal Audit functions, AKU’s IAD stood out among a pool of competitive contenders.
The competition, which drew participants from both public and private institutions across Kenya, sought to acknowledge Internal Audit departments that showed remarkable adherence to global standards, innovation, agility, and effective management of their operations. The Institute of Internal Auditors appointed a panel of independent judges, and among its strict requirements were the establishment of a strong quality assurance improvement program (QAIP) and proof of external assessments.
Out of a total of 57 corporate institutions vying for the coveted awards, AKU’s IAD emerged as the overall winner in the category of Not-for-Profit Institutions. Additionally, the department secured the position of first runners-up in the Universities category, further reinforcing its reputation for excellence in the field of internal auditing.
