A LEGAL boss slammed by a judge for blunders in the Edinburgh trams fiasco remains in a senior role with the city council, we can reveal.

Nick Smith “misled” councillors according to a law chief’s damning dossier into the scandal.

His “integrity” as a witness was also questioned by Lord Hardie, who led the probe of the transport fiasco.

But despite more than 60 mentions in the scorching report, he remains a director of the local authority.

The high-flying lawyer has “overall responsibility for delivery of legal, risk, internal audit and health and safety functions” at City of Edinburgh Council, according to his LinkedIn page.

Lord Hardie blamed the council, project firm TIE and Nats ministers for trams being five years late and £400million over budget.

In the report, he blasts Mr Smith for “inaccurate” reports to councillors.
