Firms urged to gain digital advantage – The Manila Times

Businesses must take advantage of the availability of digital tools that would enable their operations to ride out the economic impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic and rising number of cyber crimes, according to experts.

In his opening remarks during a webinar hosted by KPMG and the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), MAP President Francis Lim cited the Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum, which said the Philippines was the least competitive among the founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on that issue.

“We are [also] not ranked highly in innovation. Indeed, in the 2020 Global Innovation Index, the Philippines ranked 50th out of 131 countries,” he noted.

Lim also said a MAP-commissioned study also revealed that digitalization and digital transformation cannot be postponed.

“Now more than ever before, it is important for Philippine-based businesses to embrace a culture of innovation underpinned by technology,” he added.
