Former Alcoa Deputy Fire Chief Tom Daffron received an Excellence in Risk Management Award at the Tennessee Municipal League Risk Management Pool’s third annual Risk & Insurance Symposium.

Known as The Pool, the organization provides insurance and risk management services for municipalities and public entities.

It picked Daffron from among Pool members across the state.

“The Excellence in Risk Management Award honors Pool members who have demonstrated excellence, innovation, creativity and commitment to providing quality safety and risk management programs within their entities,” President and CEO Dawn Crawford said. “We are pleased to recognize these members who go above and beyond to improve the safety of their workplaces and communities.”

Following his retirement as deputy fire chief, Daffron began a second career as the city of Alcoa’s health and safety manager. In this role, he has been instrumental in reducing workplace injuries, implementing programs to assist with risk management, and maintaining positive work relationships with each employee group, a press release states.
