Galway County Board treasurer, Michael Burke, told club delegates at their monthly County Board Meeting last night, that Galway County Board have paid Croke Park the sum of €390,000, a sum relating to monies outstanding on All-Ireland final tickets from 2015.
Galway were beaten 1-22 to 1-18 in that year’s hurling decider by Kilkenny and have since contested two more finals, winning in 2017.
The treasurer also told delegates that Galway County Board had to write off approximately €100,000 in bad debt, sums that were owed to them, but that could no longer be collected for various reasons.
This comes as delegates still await the publication of an internal Audit report, commissioned by treasurer Michael Burke, that has been completed for some months now, and that has been received and seen by Senior GAA officers in Croke Park.
This report hasn’t been made public yet, as it has been the subject of legal correspondence.
Croke Park have commissioned Mazars, the international Auditing and corporate finance company, to conduct a full audit of Galway GAA finances, and they have been working in Galway for some weeks now.
They are expected to report on their findings in the next week or two.
