Govt plans to impart cyber security and forensics training to govt employeesIn a move to improve responses in cyber attacks at government firms and create better awareness of cyber threats, the central government has decided to impart training and skill development in cyber security and forensics to its employees at the central and state levels.

Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL), a public sector undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has been tasked to select agencies which could provide the training over the next 2-3 years. A tender has been issued by the BECIL to hire agencies for the purpose, according to a news by PTI.

“The idea is to train government officials with basic knowledge of cyber security and forensics to improve the overall awareness levels so that in the event of a breach, there can be some initial response while waiting for a more sophisticated response,” said an official of BECIL.

The agency, which will be selected by the BECIL, will also be tasked with the work of maintenance of basic training and other government cyber infrastructure and get the said training programme certified by a state or central university, read the tender document.
