Govt takes issue with Maryam’s use of the PM’s jet, refers matter to NAB

The government will be referring four cases to NAB regarding the Sharif family’s misuse of power and misuse of public funds, including one involving Maryam Nawaz.  

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Media Iftikhar Durrani and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar disclosed the details of the cases they are forwarding to NAB.

Durrani explained that the first case is on misuse of authority by former premier Nawaz Sharif regarding the security plan at the Sharifs’ residence in Jati Umrah.

Another case involves Maryam’s use of the prime minister’s official plane. Her trips cost the national exchequer Rs30 million. Another refers to former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif’s use of the same plane.

Akbar said that NAB should conduct an audit of PM House, which is a public office, to find out through an independent investigation whether there was misuse of authority. We have handed over the records of Punjab CM House and PM House to NAB, he said.
