The right to a private life away from the glare of the media. The case of French politician Benjamin Griveaux has put this issue in the headlines. Griveaux, a close political ally of President Emmanuel Macron, pulled out of the race to be Paris Mayor after an sex tape was circulated on line, allegedly the candidate, masturbating, while messaging another woman, not his wife.
Does being in the public eye mean you can no longer misbehave, consensually, in private?
France has long protected the right to a private life.
But is this now eroded by the internet age and the advent of social networks?
Or are these media helping to expose hypocrisy and double standards that have no place in public life?
