THE term “Special Forces” conjures images of a cadre of squinting soldiers clad in fatigue uniforms with armed guns, ready to make advances into enemy territory.
Since 2015, distinguished gentlemen with such credentials have been
coming in and out of the country on a nonmilitary mission. They come from
different parts of the world, then converge in Manila regularly to share the
art and science of cross-cultural security assessment and risk mitigation.
One of them, Kevin McCaffrey, has stayed put to start and grow
Blackpanda, a global risk consultancy. As managing director, he is the lynchpin
of the company’s vision to revolutionize security in Asia, especially among
emerging economies.
“I am proud to say we were born and bred here,” McCaffrey told the BusinessMirror. “We are headquartered in
Hong Kong, but we set up our first working office here. We now have offices in
Singapore, Japan, Korea and Thailand. We look forward to establish presence in
other developing economies like Cambodia.”
