KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Independence, Missouri Mayor Eileen Weir says her city has hired an external auditor to review the city’s utility billing system following continued reports of customer frustrations.
The firm, BHMG Engineers, a suburban St. Louis company, will start a month-long, $15,000 audit of several components of the city’s utility billing system:
- Billing system conversation
- Billing calculation validations
- Rate set up
- Fuel factor calculations
- kWh sales increases due to weather
- Bill cycles
- Mail delivery
- Meter readings
- Level pay
- Net metering
