Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – Complete Oct. 21, 2019
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), also known as “two-step” or “2-factor” authentication, was a huge undertaking and is now mandatory for all faculty, staff, and students when accessing Gold password systems. The project involved everyone on campus and was completed on-time and below budget with minimal disruption to business. Thanks to multi-factor, the campus systems that make use of the Gold password are much safer than before.
Google to Gold – Complete Aug. 26, 2019
As part of the continued UC systemwide effort to provide increased security against cybercrime, the UCSC Google Suite of services (campus email, calendar, drive, groups, etc.) switched from Blue to Gold password on Aug. 26, 2019. As a result, multi-factor authentication is now part of the Google login process.
