Trustees with the Killeen ISD will hear a presentation from Gibson Consulting about the internal audit the firm conducted on the Special Education Program for FY 24.

At first glance, the scope covers four key areas included in the research: department organization and program management; student identification, evaluation and placement; program design and delivery; and parent engagement and communications.

A review of the presentation lists 18 recommendations contained in the 140-page report. The recommendations are categorized in terms of priorities — high, medium, and low. Tuesday’s presentation appears to cover eight of the high-priority recommendations. These eight have been designated as measures “management” agrees with.

Gibson’s auditors begin the presentation with an executive summary, which points to some of the deficiencies seen at the district level by administrators, teachers, students and parents.
