A city audit reveals Memphis Fire Department spent tens of thousands of dollars on a program that was supposed to be free.

Now, the city’s working to get that money back.

An email from the healthcare provider said the four bills were sent to the city at the request of a Memphis Fire Department employee.

In May of 2017, the RADAR program debuted–a partnership between the Memphis Fire Department and Resurrection Health.

The program was designed to cut down on resources being tied up on non-emergency calls by dispatching SUVs equipped with resources: a firefighter, a paramedic, and a doctor.

The pilot program was supposed to be provided at no cost to the city.
