A multi-agency memorandum of understanding was signed earlier today in Belmopan, led by the National Emergency Management Organization. The signing event saw the engagement of the Statistical Institute of Belize, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Belize Scouts Association, and the Belize Red Cross Society. According to the Minister of State in the Ministry of Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management, Ramon Cervantes, the role that these agencies play are crucial when it comes to disaster risk management and mitigation. The MOU will see the government sponsor various training programs that will enhance the knowledge, and skills of the participating agencies.
