Rising AI-driven cyber threats, GPS disruptions, and supply chain vulnerabilities are accelerating demand for advanced cybersecurity risk management solutions, with 42% of global businesses ranking cyber incidents as their top operational risk in 2026.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology released a draft revision of its Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) cybersecurity profile under the updated Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0, introducing stronger protections against GPS disruption, AI-driven cyber threats, and supply chain vulnerabilities. The revised NISTIR 8323 Rev. 2 guidance is designed to help organizations secure systems and infrastructure that depend on PNT services, including GPS networks, Network Time Protocol servers, commercial timing systems, and internal synchronization infrastructure.

The updated framework significantly expands guidance for organizations to identify PNT-dependent assets, strengthen protections against spoofing and jamming attacks, detect anomalies in timing signals, and improve incident response and recovery strategies during service disruptions. NIST emphasized that the revised…
