New Office to lead PS cyber-security

A new office to lead and coordinate cyber-security issues across the NSW Government has been established in the Department of Customer Service.

Announced by Chief Information and Digital Officer, Greg Wells, Cyber Security NSW will be set up to play a major role in achieving the vision of the new Customer Service Cluster — using digital transformation to build confidence and trust among citizens and thereby increase customer satisfaction and engagement.

“Cyber Security NSW will be led by Tony Chapman, Chief Cyber Security Officer, and will perform the functions previously undertaken by the NSW Government Chief Information Security Officer,” Mr Wells said.

“The role will have a renewed focus on digital transformation and improving customer service outcomes.”

He said a key component of the role would be driving a culture of risk management and awareness to support greater resilience to cyber security threats.

Mr Chapman and his team will build on the digital transformation work occurring across the NSW Government, ensuring digital spaces were safeguarded against cyber threats.
