Kanpur: Around 300 women of six districts of Kanpur division on Saturday participated in a one-day divisional level programme on the topic ‘Role of women self help groups in disaster risk reduction’ organized by the district Disaster Management Authority Kanpur under the aegis of UP state disaster management at Shatabdi Hall of HBTU.Chief guest vice president UP State Disaster Management, Lt. General Yogendrar Dimri said that Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority was sensitive to disasters. Various natural disasters like snakebite, drought, excessive rain, fire, drowning in rivers, etc. cause loss of life, loss of money and damage to the environment. Women, children and elderly people were most affected in these disasters. This workshop had been organized to make women self-help groups aware about reducing the loss caused by these disasters and being aware of them.
