At least 520 children have been killed and nearly 1,200 others injured since Russia launched its war on Ukraine last year, according to Ukraine’s prosecutor general.
“Children in the following regions have been most affected: Donetsk – 504, Kharkiv – 313, Kherson – 145, Kyiv – 130, Dnipropetrovsk – 111, Zaporizhia – 100, Mykolaiv – 97, Chernihiv – 72, Luhansk – 67,” the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) said on its Telegram channel.
“During the day on January 8, as a result of enemy rocket fire in Novomoskovsk, Dnipropetrovsk region, five children aged 4, 8, 11, 16 and 17 were injured,” the statement added.
It also said that the figures were not complete as collection of the data continues in places of combat operations, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories of Ukraine.
