SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Safety at Falls Park continues to be a hot topic.
City councilors have already approved building a new viewing platform, but several other suggestions have been made to make the park safer from fences to more signs. Now an outside party could weigh in.
City council members unanimously made a recommendation at Tuesday’s city council meeting that the city hire a third party consultant to study safety at Falls Park.
They would give the city options on how to manage the risk of injury or death from falling into the rushing water.
Councilor Rick Kiley says he has complete confidence in the city’s safety and risk professionals, but he wants another set of eyes to review Falls Park.
