Tajikistan and Germany sign agreements worth 21.5 million Euro for Disaster risk reduction and fight against TB

A 20 million Grant of German Government will support Tajikistan to adapt to climate change by reducing risk of natural disasters and an additional 1.5 million Euro Grant will finance construction of a children TB hospital in Macheton, Tajikistan.

A signing ceremony of 2 Grant agreements between the Republic of Tajikistan and KfW Development bank took place at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. The Minister of Economic Development and Trade – Mr. Zavqi Zavqizoda , Regional Director of KfW for Central Asia – Dr. Andreas Schneider and the Executive Director of National Social Investment Fund of Tajikistan – Mr. Sherali Siddikzoda signed a Grant and Project implementation agreement in amount of 20 million Euro for the “Enhancing Rural Development through Adapted Land Use and Natural Disaster Risk Mitigation” Project. The project foresees implementation of joint forest and pasture management activities, introduction of energy-efficiency and protection of critical infrastructure in rural areas of Tajikistan.
