TOKYO, November 19. /TASS/. Chairman of Nissan and Renault, Carlos Ghosn, was arrested in Japan on Monday on suspicion of violating the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law, the country’s largest newspaper Yomiuri reported citing investigative sources.
According to the sources, Ghosn allegedly understated his remuneration in the company’s securities report.
Earlier, local media reported that Nissan admitted charges against Carlos Ghosn. It was noted that during the internal audit, the company managed to find records that testify, in particular, about deliberate understatement of the amount of Ghosn’s remuneration, as well as inappropriate spending of the company’s funds. It was stressed that the police became aware of the top managers’ violations from an informant inside the Japanese automaker.
It was also reported that at the next meeting of the board of directors of Nissan they will demand early resignation of Carlos Ghosn and one of the board members – Greg Kelly. It is stressed that Kelly was directly related to the actions of Ghosn.
