Firefighters have contained large parts of the blaze that started in Simon’s Town and Glencairn in Cape Town on Tuesday.

Only skeleton crews remain on the ground to deal with flare-ups, according to the City’s Fire and Rescue Service.

“One chopper was requested earlier to again assist in extinguishing the inaccessible area above the ostrich farm near Cape Point. The chopper has since been grounded,” City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said.
