Taking a risk with flooding project

MURRAY River Council has received funding from the NSW Government to assist with the development of Floodplain Risk Management projects in Moulamein and Barham.

And council will soon be calling for community representatives to become members of the respective Floodplain Risk Management Committees.

At its ordinary meeting on Tuesday, council was informed a Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan for Moulamein will provide updated flood information that can be used by a variety of stakeholders for land-use planning, flood management planning, emergency response and flooding education.

Barham had a similar plan developed in 2016 which identified uncertainties regarding the condition of the Barham town levee.
