Microsoft has quietly expanded its free Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme for Windows 10 consumers, granting eligible users an additional year of critical security updates through October 2027 as the company continues its long-term transition toward Windows 11.

In a move that received little public attention, Microsoft has extended its consumer Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme for Windows 10 by another year, allowing enrolled personal devices to continue receiving essential security patches until 12 October 2027.

The decision was not announced through a dedicated press release or major product announcement. Instead, Microsoft updated its official Windows documentation and amended a previously published Windows Experience Blog post with an editor’s note confirming the revised timeline.
