The General Confederation of Portuguese Workers (Confederacao Geral dos Trabalhadores Portugueses, CGTP) is planning to hold a protest at the Ties of Friendship Bridge in Aveiro from 10:30 Dec. 17. Supporters are calling for a 10 percent wage increase and setting the national minimum wage at 850 euros. Hundreds of people may participate in the demonstration.
Although the gathering will probably remain largely peaceful, authorities will almost certainly deploy increased numbers of police to monitor the events. Localized traffic disruptions are likely.

Allow additional time to reach destinations near protest locations in Aveiro Dec. 17. Heed the instructions of security personnel.
