Cyber security course will use simulated exercises to instill knowledge of IMO regulations and guidelines in seafarers
Turku, Finland-based maritime academy and training centre Aboa Mare has partnered with Deductive Labs, a cyber security specialist based in the Åland islands to offer specialist maritime cyber security training.
The course, which is targeted at masters, chief engineers, officers and other seafarers, will cover IMO’s current requirements and guidelines regarding cyber risk management on board ships. It will cover different threats, threat actors and their objectives, and how to identify potential cyber security incidents, and seeks to enable participants to actively participate in cyber security strategies and actions at organisational and on board-ship levels. Potential for navigation equipment to be spoofed or hacked is also covered.
