IN THE WAKE of an internal audit that garnered unflattering headlines, Washington State President Kirk Schulz this week said a culture needs to be created to emphasize compliance and accountability.
As Glenn Osterhout noted in a recent column, the football ticketing audit at WSU found places to tighten up. But the media furor over the audit, as both Osterhout and the Mercury News’ Jon Wilner said, was way too much about far too little. “The standards outlined in the audit don’t reflect the realities on the front lines of Power Five football, and violating those standards doesn’t mean the Cougars are corrupt — it means they’re conducting business as usual,” wrote Wilner.
