The city is implementing a new cash collection process for downtown parking garages following the recent arrest of a former employee for theft.

At Thursday’s meeting, the Savannah City Council was notified by staff that the city had entered into an emergency contract with Loomis/Safepoint to purchase eight drop-box systems for Mobility and Parking Services at a cost of $103,992. In addition, the city has agreed to pay the company $24,768 a year to collect cash deposits for the department.
